Celebrate the Small Things 6/28

About three weeks ago, my microwave died.  True, it was over fifteen years old, but it didn't die a "natural death."  It was murdered by an electric surge.  *sniffle*  Luckily, my other appliances survived -- the micro was the only casualty.

You never realize how much you use something until it's gone.

I never realized how my lazy-butt-self always makes big recipes that last for 3-4 days. And my freezer is filled with danishes my hubby gets free from work.  And when my coffee goes cold -- it's a major problem!

I tried to use the stove to reheat things.  The pasta broke into little pieces.  The rice just burned to the bottom of the pan.  I found that my oven has a grill thingy in the top of it -- but I also found that if you put danishes on a cookie sheet under that grilling thingy and forget about them, THEY CATCH ON FIRE!!

OK, Domestic Goddess I am not.  In fact, when it comes to the kitchen, I'm more like Dennis the Menace.

But at long last, my sweet, wonderful micro is fixed, back home, and on its countertop!

** Huge sigh of relief! **

Has something ever broken in your house that caused you minor (or major) hysteria?

Celebrate the Small Things: 6/21

 Happy happy June!
I have stuuuuffff to celebrate!

1) A friend brought me suede sandals from Switzerland for my birthday (unavailable in Egypt), and they're like walking on clouds!  Ahhhh....
2) A small but annoying snafu of governmental red-tape worked itself out after 2 months.
3) A big snafu of 2-year-old red-tape has finally been fixed and some money is heading my way!
4) I started working on an outline for a new WIP yesterday, and it doesn't suck!
5) I'm still happy about my book contract and my agent!

All is right with the world!

(Ya better take a picture 'cause
this doesn't happen to me often.)

Book Contract!

I've gotten a book contract for SOUL CUTTER!  Here's the announcement that appeared today in Publisher's Marketplace:

Publisher's Marketplace ~ Deals June 11, 2013:
Lexa Cain’s SOUL CUTTER, a teen who outs fake psychics on YouTube overcomes her epic skepticism when she confronts a legendary Soul Cutter while in Egypt tracking down her missing mother, to Lea Schizas at MuseItUp Publishing for publication in December 2013 by Michelle Johnson at Inklings Literary Agency. (World English)

Yay!  It may have taken some time, but I'm pretty excited my book will be out to readers in December 2013!

IWSG: Bull vs Matador

Maybe it's just me,
but sometimes the publishing biz reminds me of a bull,
and I'm a matador on a bad day.

I may climb to my feet slowly while rubbing parts of my anatomy,
but I eventually get back up and do it all again.

  Determination
or
Just plum crazy?!

(This is not an endorsement of bull-fighting.)
