Celebrate: Halfway Done & Giveaways!

This week I'm celebrating:
1)  I got 6 more chapters revised this week, that puts me at the halfway point. Yay!
2)  I'm pretty pleased with myself for getting so much done. But this fast full-revision would never be possible if I hadn't gotten such awesome & helpful feedback from my wonderful CPs: Kate, Tania, Kim, Stuart, and Dave. You guys ROCK!!
3)  This week, I also managed to do a crit for a multi-published horror author, and also reviewed a book by another multi-published horror author. And both thanked me very nicely!  It feels good to be starting to know successful authors in my genre. :)
4) I just realized I know more UK Horror authors than US ones.  I'm not sure why that's surprising, but it is... My fav Sci-Fi author is British too.  Hmm.  Maybe I'm a closet Anglophile.

Do you know a lot of people from other countries?  Or do your connections mostly come from your own country?

I'm an Anglophile too, so I understand. Congratulations on an amazing week, and I hope you have a great weekend!

Whoo hoo! Go Lexa! I'm so excited to read the revised book. I'm just about halfway through my revising too, but I didn't have big changes to make, just little one-liners here and there. I know people all over the world, but I don't think I'm an anglophile. Living there cured me of that...

Glad to hear the revisions are progressing well. Mine have been a little slower this week than I had hoped but I am pleased with the revisions I have managed to make so I am celebrating that. Enjoy your weekend.

Congrats on your revisions! Have a great weekend :)

Could your lean toward English authors the product of living in Egypt? Given the British presence until relatively recently, I wonder if there's still some influence somehow. Grats on your revisions, and have a nice weekend!

Congratulations on hitting the halfway mark!
I know authors from all over now although I'd really have to think about who are my favorites and what country they live in. I do know my favorite fantasy author is American - Terry Brooks.

That's awesome you got so much revising done. And great you're connecting with other authors who write in your genre.

Congrats on getting to the halfway point, must feel great!!!! I've made friends with an author that lives in Ghana, Africa. We converse by email quite a bit, I love her. And she's also my beta reader. I love to connect with authors.

I'm a Brit but most of my connections are American. I do love it when I read great British fiction though, and I do know a few British horror fiction authors and publishers. Not enough in my opinion. :)

Well done on getting so much done! I'm not working so well lately - ups and downs! Have a great weekend, Lexa. X

Yay to getting so much done!
My contacts tend to be scattered all over the globe, but I think Canada out does UK in that area at the moment (not sure why). The writer world is a big place!

Yay for being halfway there! I know a few people from around the world via my virtual writing connections. One particular CP from Egypt who rocks, BTW. ;) But my worldwide connections span Asia as well because of my husband's Iranian family. Guess I'm worldly. Who knew? Lol

Congrats on getting all that editing done! And getting recognized by other horror writers must be very satisfying. I've "met" people all over the world through blogging, which is really neat!

Congrats on the half way mark-you should be jumping for joy! In blog world, there are many from the States but some from England, India and Portugal:) Amazing how we can now all connect so easily. Actually my best friend had pen pals all over the world and she still literally writes to them!

Congratulations!
So awesome to see you cheerful and happy!
I always assume the person I'm talking too is from the US, but I'm so non-global and then I find out they are from the UK, Australia, India, Singapore, and Egypt plus so many more, oh and I can't forget Canada. Then I'll talk to someone I'm sure is from far far away and learn they're in my own neighborhood. LOL

I'm thrilled to meet so many lovely folks and hoping someday I'll get to visit them, and they me!

Karla Gomez said...

Great question! I know more people from my own country. But the writing community has allowed me to meet great people from all over the U.S. Always nice :)

You have all kinds of great things to celebrate, Lexa! Good job getting so much done on your story! Hope you have a great weekend. Friends are good, no matter where you find them. :)

Congratulations on reaching the half-way point. You're doing great.
Yes, crit partners can really make a difference. Now, on to the final half. Happy Friday the 13th
Have a nice weekend.

Lexa, glad to hear you're getting things accomplished as planned. That's always a good feeling. We're getting some much needed chores done around here outdoors before the cold sets in with the onset of winter. Years ago, I use to pen-pal and I had a nice circle of international friends, but I moved beyond that phase and replaced it with blogging. I do have a number of blogger pals outside the US. I think most are from the UK. The world has gotten a whole lot smaller thanks to the internet. Thanks for hosting and for dropping by for a visit. Have a funtastic weekend, my friend!

Your work ethnics are amazing. I wish I could say the same.

Well done on all your achievements this week. As for international contacts, I'm a Brit and you know how insular we are! I love that it's so easy to connect with people all around the world online. If only I could travel to meet them all in real life.

Elizabeth Seckman said...

Three cheers for being half way done!! I think I'm mostly surrounded by Americans. I think.

Amazing things here! I'm probably a closet Anglophile too.

Lexa, you are ROCKING the writing!
Thanks to the internet, I've met wonderful writers from all over the globe.

Crystal Collier said...

Critique partners rock! I think you can't have enough of them, especially if they're epic. Way to make tracks!

I do know the most authors from my own country, but I've got a fair smattering of friendlies from all over the globe, thank you blogosphere!

Loni Townsend said...

Congrats on getting half-way! You're rocking it.

The first critique partner I clicked with was in New Zealand. I guess I do cross borders. :)

Catherine Stine said...

I write horror! And I live in the USA. Long live scary fiction.

J.H. Moncrieff said...

I'm getting to know a lot of people in other countries through my Samhain connections and through blogging. I'd say most of my writer friends are American, which is still something, because I remember the days when the only people who read my blog were my fellow Canadians.

That's amazing that you have that many great CP! Still haven't been able to find one.

DMS said...

Congrats on the revisions! That is fascinating about where most of the horror writing originates. I had no idea. :)
