Celebrate: Dueling Turtles & Giveaways

The Inner-Self Duel
My good self (start writing again!) is fighting
my bad self (watch TV, eat junk food, sleep late!)
Who will win?

This week I'm celebrating:
1) Using the AC and staying inside most of the time is keeping me from turning into a barbecued chicken. Yay AC!
2) Got some chores done, including the all-important cleaning of the AC filters.
3) I've been getting a lot of compliments from reviewers and Twitter folk on BLOODWALKER's cover.  That makes me so happy!

Do you have internal arguments about doing what you're supposed to do and what you want to do?

LOL, my inner selves often duel, too. Rooting for your good self so you can get some writing done!

When I'm procrastinating I do research, whether reading, going online or watching something. That way I don't have to feel TOO guilty.

Kate Larkindale said...

You don't want to even look at my inner duelers… It doesn't matter what I'm doing, I feel guilty about not doing something else. The sooner I can clone myself, the better! Then I might get a moment's peace from those good & evil dudes battling in my subconscious.

I argue and what I need to do usually wins. Unless it concerns my own writing, then sometimes it wins.

I think the cover is amazing, but I might be a little bit biased.

You're so funny. Loved the turtles. Yes, I have these battles too. Productivity usually wins out.

Birgit said...

Love these turtles! I'm always battling and I think a lot about moving my ever wider ass off the couch to do something....sometimes that wins but my ass will always find my couch.

I'm glad those dueling turtles haven't loaned out their weapons to my cats. Because my cats do enough damage NOW.

Christine Rains said...

Hehehe! The turtles made me giggle. Yay for AC! I would melt if I didn't have it too. And thanks for the freebies. :)

Can't live without air conditioning.

All the time. More often than not the "should do" wins. Love the turtles! Glad you're staying cool and getting chores done. I still have a long list of chores staring at me. Eventually, they'll get done. Bloodwalker's cover deserves many compliments. It's really well done. Have a great weekend!

Lexa, I have deal with inner conflicts all the time and usually my bad self wins out. I need to find away to lock my "bad self" up so I can get some important things done. lol Thanks for hosting the fun and try to keep cool. Autumn is less than a month away. I'm not sure how that translate for folks in Egypt, but it'll be awesome for us! Have a good weekend. :D

Those same turtles live at my place too! They're constantly fighting :-) I wouldn't be able to survive southern Florida in the summer without A/C. Good reminder that I need to clean the filter.

Dueling turtles. Why not?
I haven't written a dozen words this week, just can't get into it. My desk top computer crashed. I lost everything on it. Some stuff is on my lap top, but I'm just wandering around doing nothing. The lap top confuses me. :(
Maybe next week will be better.

I think we all have those internal arguments. When I want to do nothing my better self usually wins and I find something productive to do.

Dixie@dcrelief said...

Forgive me. I saw the dueling turtles and had to have a peek. What the heck. I totally get it now. Writing is too difficult for me right now. That stroke last fall did a number on me. So I guess it's exercise in-between a few chips. Haha. Take care, Lexa!

Laura Clipson said...

Oh yes, my inner selves argue all the time. The stuff I should be doing versus the stuff I'd rather do. Guess which one usually wins? Have a great weekend!

Tamara Narayan said...

My "good" self is telling me to write after the kids go to bed. My "bad" self is saying, "Are you kidding? My brain is toast by 10:30 after dealing with those little boogers all day. Must have Netflix and a snack!" So far it's good self, 0, bad self, 70 and counting. Come on, September!

JeffO said...

The good thing about arguing with yourself? You always win! Have a good weekend!

messymimi said...

Yes, it's my inner child versus my responsible, adult self. Some days, i just can't adult.

Lexa, dealing with the death of one of our Soldiers. Hard to post today. Blessings!

I dual with my inner self regularly. I always win, but I always lose. ;)

Thank goodness for AC on hot, hot days. Glad you are staying cool.

Inner arguments, outwards, just always remember that you are talking to yourself. AC, I wish, I have two options. Near a window or the fan. Love the fighting turtle gif.

It is good to take the bad self out every now and then. Life is not all about work, it is also to be enjoyed.

Cathrina Constantine said...

I'm constantly pulling or fighting with myself over what I should do and shouldn't do too.

So glad you have the AC and ours has been on a month. By the end of next week might go down into the high 70's, hoping for relief.

Take Care.

Tonja Drecker said...

I never thought about the inner-duel thing in me before, but it's not really there usually. I tend to be a pretty pragmatic person ;) Yay for keeping cool! And your book does have a lovely cover. I can't say more quite yet, but soon since it's next on my TBR stack

I have those battles all the time. My A/C barely turns off during the day; only at night. I'm enjoying the cool air.

T.F. Walsh said...

Staying cool is priority in such heat.. completely agree... and yes, I'm always disagreeing with the part of me that says I should keep working... LOL

Rhonda Albom said...

Yay for compliments on your awesome cover. Those turtles are a bit mesmorizing. LOL

mshatch said...

Do I have arguments with myself? OMG all the time! The good me says no you may not watch one more episode of Supernatural while the bad me says, but it's only 7:30, there's still time to write after, and each episode is really only 44 minutes long so not even a whole hour...Bad me can be very convincing. I live alone so I pretty much talk to myself all the time.

Unknown said...

I gave away my air conditioner because I used it so rarely but this summer I have been less productive than I wanted to be and I know it's because of the heat. So, next summer I will buy a new one and get some work done. Sigh. I feel like I'm cooped up all winter so hate having windows closed in summer, too.

Julie Flanders said...

Yes, thank goodness for AC!!! The inventor is one of my heroes.

Who won the duel?? I love those turtles LOL.

SENCO Cat Herder said...

Oh yes - certainly two sides of a battle going on here too and one of them is also the TV watching, bad food eating slob cat!! I have high hopes I will be turning it around this week - hopefully something I will be "Celebrating" next week with you all???
Loving your Bloodwalker cover - it was one I voted for :)

Love the dueling turtles! Yeah, been there with "what I should be doing" push-pulling with "what I feel like doing" instead. With me, the temptation is always to read another book or to check out social media and politics. Glad your AC is working. Heat can be really enervating and make you feel like doing nothing at all. that really IS a great cover for BLOODWALKER.

Kelley said...

No kidding on the AC. Stay cool!

cleemckenzie said...

Ah yes. The old angel in one ear, devil in the other. Why is it the devil is always so much more alluring? Congrats on the compliments. I love your cover. It should get compliments galore.

Annie Neugebauer said...

What cracks me up the most is that someone took the time to photoshop light sabers into that turtle gif. (We know which side of the force THAT person fell to...) Congrats on the good reviews, Lexa, and here's hoping you choose productivity. :)

klahanie said...

Hey Lexa,

I'm often having a right good chat with myself. One of my last two brain cells tells me do the chores. The other brain cells tells me to go back to sleep.

Thanks for the links.

I'm outta' here....

Internal arguments???? EVERY DAY!!!!!!!

Love the turtles. Ha. Made me smile.

Been too long since I've been here. Glad to be back in blogosphere. Love your blog!

I'm constantly struggling with internal battles. I find that when I let too much pile up on my plate, or I say yes to too much, the battle becomes almost war-like. :-/

Yay for good reviews and AC. Ick for chores. We need staff. :-)

Beautiful turtles! It would be good to read little books:)

Love the battling turtles, Lexa. Made me smile.
I am always battling with my inner self - must do but don't want to endless saga. Sometimes I win. Other times my other self wins. Maybe I should buy a lightsaber - that way I'll be getting some exercise whilst making up my mind :) Have a great September.

those turtles are awesome!! and the giphys from last week are so cute too - love owls!

and congrats with Bloodwalker!

hope you're having another great week!

I'm a horrible procrastinator. I have an office to work in, but I seem to end up working in front of the TV a lot.

LD Masterson said...

Funny - I'm celebrating having the temperatures come down just enough that I can turn the AC off. I love fresh air. Also the cover of BLOODWALKER. My battle is between writing and getting all the other related stuff (blogging, email, networking, querying) done. And yet, streaming Netflix still intrudes.
